Your party’s atmosphere will be enhanced by your chosen party decorations. And your guests get to enjoy and feel the occasion more with the right themed party decorations. Planning your decoration is the most important thing you can do before purchase of your party needs. Before you buy any decoration be sure you know your color scheme and theme. Be aware of the type of party that you will be having. You already know before you start if it is a birthday party, baby shower, a or an anniversary. This will go deeper than that, and goes into the details like whether it is informal or formal, traditional, serious, etc. Depending on the party, the type will dictate your decorations from color, accessories and even activities. The best thing about having themed parties is that you are free to customize everything, especially the accents and decorations, to fit your theme.
Here are some tips to decorations your party. Party decorations are usually designed or purchased to fit with your chosen party colours or help form the party theme. Colour is an important part of any room decoration. You may decide to choose a couple of colours as your scheme, or go with all bright or all pastel colours. If you have a limited budget and a large room, consider decorating one or two areas rather than spreading the decorations sparsely across the entire room. We recommend concentrating on the party table and the entrance to the party room, then moving out from there. The focal point of the party is the table setting. This is where the kids will sit and eat, the birthday cake will be cut, and where a lot of photos will be taken. When creating a table setting, start with one detail, and then build on it. For example you may have a nice mermaid centrepiece. You can then choose a tablecloth, table runner, plates, cups and napkins to match that. You may also like to add other small items across the table such as shells or sprinkles. Don’t forget that the food can also be used to dress the table. Fairy bread can be cut into shapes that fit the theme and will give colour to the party table. Balloons are a cheap and easy way to decorate. Helium balloons look great gathered on the ceiling with curling ribbon flowing down, or even tied to the party chairs. Another way to decorate with balloons, is by putting several balloons on a cup and stick, then add them to a vase and use it as a centrepiece for the party table. They can also be tied in bunches or strung across the room. Paper Lanterns and bunting flags are the latest trend in party decorations. Many of these are good quality and can be reused. Some bunting flags are double sided, so they can be strung across the room for extra affect. Add decorative accessories especially for themed parties. A Halloween party gives more of a spooky feel with decorative cobwebs on the various house corners, jack-o-lanterns, bats and even skeletons in an open closet. Formal parties would need lesser decorations but you can use small bowls containing candies or nuts that people can munch while waiting for the party to start. They are not only effective table decors, guests will enjoy eating them too.
